  Nordpraktik in Aland
 

The Aland Islands is an autonomous, demilitarized and unlingually Swedish province of Finland.
On the Islands lives over 25000 inhabitants, and they live on 65 of the 6500 islands and skerries.
About 10000 lives in Mariehamn, the only town on Aland Islands.


The Aland Islands may not have so many large and well known companys, but here are some exampels:

Viking Line: known for both the Balts, Swedes and Finns.

Alandsbanken - Alands own bank, they have offices in Helsinki and Turku

Chips Ab - well known products like Taffel and OLW

Optinova - makes plastictubes for medical use

We have waterpower, museums (they have intress to take trainees). We have a restaurants that are interested in taking trainees and a building company. Also Emmaus Aland (who is part of Emmaus International) want`s to have a trainee, the postoffice (privatly owned) and PAF ( The Aland Island`s Slot Machine Association) is also intersted in having a trainee this year.

The participants will be met by the projectleader at the airport. They will get practical information about their training and accomodation.

Participants who comes to Aland will first have a introduction course. The course is in cooperation with the Swedish Norden Association (resposible for Nordpraktik in Sweden)
After the introduction course there will be 3 weeks of training. after the 3 weeks we have 1-2 day course.
During the training period we will also have som leisure-time activities. For example a visit to one of the islands, museums, a visit to Kastelholm castle and different companies. We have bicycles to borrow and you get a library card ,the Aland Islands still offer many experiences in september.

The Aland Islands has a wonderful arhipelago with a magnificent nature. Everything is nearby, the local bus is free. Trips to Sweden or Finland is a possibility.

Time for Nordpraktik on Aland Island is in september 2002.
